Mining Museum of South Tyrol, Schneeberg/Ridnaun
In the Mining Museum of South Tyrol, the former working mining facilities have been converted into a fascinating museum. Visitors to the museum have the chance to find out more about the hard and dangerous lives lead by the miners and can learn all about the golden ages and crises experienced by the mining industry. Underground show galleries measuring 200m in length introduce the visitor to the different ore-mining methods practiced over the centuries. There is also an educational adventure path constructed along the longest overground transportation facility in the world. However, those wanting the full-on mining experience can don their boots, helmet and headlamp and head down into the Karl and Poschhaus Gallery which runs for a total of 6 km.

Wolfsthurn Castle
The only Baroque castle in South Tyrol is now open to the public as a museum of hunting and fishing. Visitors to the museum have the opportunity to get a feel for the noble life and the role played by hunting in popular culture. The museum houses two exhibitions: the first floor contains an exhibition all about fly-fishing, hunting, wild game as well as local art depicting the world of fishing and hunting wile on the second floor the visitor can learn all about the history of Wolfsthurn Castle. The visit passes through some of the most splendid rooms in the castle which still contain the original furnishings and fittings.

Reifenstein Castle
This imposing castle is perched high on a rocky outcrop resembling an island, on the edge of the moor land area of Sterzing once dominated by swamps. Reifenstein Castle is not only one of the best preserved but also one of the most interesting castles in the region from an artistic and historical perspective. The earliest historical mention of Reifenstein dates back to the 12th century. On the north-facing high ground is located the small church of St. Zeno which dates back to 1330.
Opening hours: 1st April until 31st October.
Guided tours: take place at 10.30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. (an additional guided tour takes place from 15th July until 15th September at 4 p.m.), closed on Fridays
Winter

Welcome to the Rosskopf, the Sterzing local mountain Right at the gates of the old Fugger town of Sterzing is where the Rosskopf mountain range begins. It is easily reached using a 6-seater cable railway. When you arrive at the top, you will experience a truly unique view of the surrounding area for many hundred kilometres. In the north, you will see the Alpine main mountain range with the Stubai Alps. In the south, there is the Dolomite kingdom. There are many impressive snow-covered mountains more than 3,000 metres high. These are the Zuckerhutl, the Wild Pfaff, Hochfeiler, Tribulaun, Wild Freiger etc.

Strong in performance, manifold, original. These three words give you an all-round impression of the Ratschings Ski region. However, if you take a closer look, you will notice that Ratschings has much more to offer. There is the extremely exciting far-reaching area, which enchants skiers and snowboarders of all levels. There is also the practically an untouched landscape for those who look for quietness and relaxation. The Ratschings-Jaufen ski region (1,300 – 2,150 metres above sea level) is one of the most modern and snow-secure areas in South Tyrol. There are 8 strong and comfortable lift facilities with a total of 25 km of pistes, a half-pipe and a toboggan run. All of these guarantee a variety of winter sports.
